In 2013, Mrs. Nguyen, alongside her longtime colleague and dear friend Mrs. Allenby, founded the first Dementia Support Group in the City of Lloydminster. She paused the group in 2019 due to a significant career shift.

Now, Mrs. Nguyen is excited to revive the support group and help families and loved ones navigate the uncharted waters of caring for someone living with dementia.

     The support group will run for 8 weeks each Spring and Fall annually. 

     Here are the topics you’ll have the opportunity to explore in greater depth for information, awareness, and support:

• Understanding Dementia 
• Communication Strategies 
• Caring for Yourself (Self-Care for Caregivers)
• Creating A Safe Environment 
• Legal and Financial Planning 
• Coping With Emotional Challenges 
• Dealing With Behavioural Changes
• End-of-Life Planning and Hospice Care

Mrs. Nguyen will invite community experts to share their knowledge on each discussion topic. Participants will also receive group counseling support during each session. dementia support groups
